Uladzimir Taukachou
Awards Winning DP / Director / Filmmaker / Drone Pilot
Uladzimir is an accomplished cinematographer and drone pilot specializing in documentary, fiction, short, and feature films. He brings his unique vision and problem solving to his work having lived in two opposite systems of communism and capitalism.
His short films "No Pizza for Sandy" (2013), “Rice” (2014), "Energy 11105" (2014), "A Night with a Stranger" (2016), for were his first award wins and have been screened at international film festivals.
In 2014 he collaborated with Alex Vetrov and directed, produced, shot, and edited the award-winning short fiction film “Waiting for a Train” featuring Natalya Rudakova and Vic Bagratuni. In 2014 Uladzimir worked as DP on Best Documentary award winning film "Serge Hollerbach: The Naked Truth" by Elena Rodina.
In collaboration with Hudson West Productions Production he worked as cinematographer on three feature-length documentary films "Cinema & Sanctuary" (2019), “Vince Giordano - There's a Future in the Past” (2016), “A Gesture and a Word” (2015).
His cinematography and aerial cinematography won him an award for the short film "Kaddish" (2019) by Razid Season. That same year, he worked as drone pilot on “Gateways to New York: Othmar H. Ammann and His Bridges”, a feature-length documentary by Martin Witz.
His aerial drone cinematography credits include: “Archipelago New York” – a feature-length documentary film by Thomas Halaczinsky (2020). In 2020, Uladzimir & Victor Chu shot aerial drone footage of New York City for a feature-length documentary film “Legacy” by filmmaker and environmental activist Yann Arthus-Bertrand. In the same year, he won the Best Cinematography award for the feature film “Used and Borrowed Time” by Sophia Romma.
His cinematography and aerial photography credits include BBC Travel story "A tempestuous isle of 1,000 shipwrecks" at Iles de la Madeleine, Canada; a documentary film "Spirit Roads: Being Indian In Oklahoma", a short fiction film "Road Kill", a feature-length film “Stateless” by Campbell Dalglish.
During his career, Uladzimir worked on many TV shows, episodes and pilots including three documentary films “Denver, CO”, “Charleston, SC” and “New Jersey” for Voice of America (2019); "Popp Over America" (2017); “Urban Animals” (TV show 2014).
Uladzimir has an M.F.A in Media Arts Production from the City College of New York and a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the Belarusian State Technological University. He is FAA Part 107 certified.
